ShopRite Store Reopens With Wellness Focus

4/30/2014

Following an extensive renovation, ShopRite of Lyndhurst, an Inserra Supermarkets store, has reopened with an expanded hot food section; more bakery, produce, natural and gluten-free selections; and additional frozen food and dairy options.

Further, the New Jersey supermarket has added a "Dietitian’s Corner" office to the supermarket and hired Julie Harrington, a personal chef, cookbook author and culinary nutritionist, as its in-store retail dietitian. Harrington will provide nutrition counseling and programming at the store and at local community events. ShopRite's retail dietitians offer customers a free wellness resource while they’re shopping or planning meals. ShopRite of Lyndhurst also hosts a LiveRight calendar of events featuring healthy food and meal preparation tips.

Chef Express Menu Choices

"The addition of Julie to our team is very valuable to our customers, who have already embraced the opportunity to learn more and gain advice regarding healthy eating options," noted Store Manager Slavko Profaca. "At ShopRite of Lyndhurst, our goal is to help our customers, in whatever way we can, to make sound food purchases that are good for them and their families."

Each month, dietitians at Inserra's 21 ShopRite supermarkets, which are located throughout New Jersey and New York state, hold a series of events for the general public. As well as small-group and one-on-one counseling, they conduct healthy cooking classes, recipe demonstrations, pantry makeover seminars and in-store aisle tours.

Mahwah, N.J.-based Inserra also recently expanded its heart-healthy Chef Express menu choices. During the course of each week, the culinary teams at each of the company’s ShopRite stores devise nutritious ready-to-heat entrees.
