Starbucks Debuts New Wordless Logo

SEATTLE -- Coffee giant Starbucks began using its new logo on all cups and many stores this week, the company reported.

The logo, announced by the company in January, drops the words "Starbucks Coffee" in order to reflect the company's exploration of products beyond coffee but retains the siren and green background. It is the fourth version of the logo to exist since the first Starbucks cafe opened in 1971.

Along with its new logo, Starbucks introduced several new products as part of its fortieth anniversary celebration, including a new coffee blend, a cocoa cappuccino and a set of miniature desserts called Starbucks Petites, which includes mini-cupcakes and "cake pops" on sticks.

The company said that the new logo will appear on more storefronts in the future.
