Starbucks Launches Refreshers Line Globally

SEATTLE -- Starbucks has launched its Refreshers beverage line at locations in the U.S. and Canada, plus 15 international markets. Refreshers are made using green coffee extract from unroasted 100-percent arabica beans and deliver a distinctly new take on thirst-quenching refreshment while providing a natural boost of energy from extract and real fruit juice, stated the company.

"Innovation is at the core of everything we do. As the coffee category continues to evolve, our customers expect more and we are committed to bringing uniquely relevant products to market," said Cliff Burrows, president, Starbucks Americas. "The introduction of Starbucks Refreshers beverage platform, featuring green coffee extract, is an innovative extension of the coffee market and is the perfect solution for customers looking for a boost of natural energy and thirst-quenching, delicious refreshment."

Starbucks Refreshers are available in three different formats:

  • Handcrafted Refreshers, prepared by baristas and available at participating Starbucks company-operated and licensed stores in the United States, Canada, and international markets such as Brazil, Ireland, China, Japan and more;
  • VIA Refreshers, which come in a microground format that consumers can dissolve into water, and are available at participating Starbucks company-operated and licensed stores in the U.S and at;
  • and Ready-to-Drink Refreshers, available in Starbucks stores and select grocery store shelves in the U.S.

Handcrafted and VIA Refreshers are available in Very Berry Hibiscus and Cool Lime flavors, while Ready-to-Drink Refreshers are available in Raspberry Pomegranate, Strawberry Lemonade and Orange Melon flavors. VIA Refreshers come in packs of five for $5.95.

To promote Refreshers, on Friday, July 13, Starbucks will offer customers a free Tall (12 fluid ounces) Handcrafted Refresher beverage from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. local time at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada.
