Steve & Nancy Sheetz Receive Townie Award

ALTOONA, Pa. – Steve and Nancy Sheetz received a Townie Award from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center on Monday, reported Penn State Altoona, which itself also received the honor. The annual awards recognize those who contribute to noteworthy revitalization projects in Pennsylvania communities.

The Sheetz Inc. chairman of the board and his wife, along with Penn State Altoona, were honored with the Organizational Development: Community Partnerships Award for their joint efforts in contributing to the revitalization of downtown Altoona. These efforts include the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence, which was designed to support academic research, education and community engagement in entrepreneurship and house the Students In Free Enterprise organization.

The award was presented during a banquet held at the Blair County Convention Center.

The Community Partnerships Award recognizes organizations that have reached out and forged innovative and mutually beneficial relationships with other downtown or neighborhood organizations, particularly those that have a vested interest in downtown or neighborhood revitalization.
