Stewart's Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Named World's Best

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Stewart's Shops' ice cream has been honored at the World Dairy Expo for the second time in three years, reports The Saratogian. The chain's Dark Chocolate flavor was named the world's best at the 2012 show.

The Expo, an international competition held annually in Madison, Wis., ranks contest entries based on flavor, body, texture, melting quality, color and appearance. Stewart's Half & Half also received an award, winning the title for third best in the world.

"We make all of our ice cream and Half & Half with fresh and local milk at our dairy in Greenfield," said Stewart's President Gary Dake. "It is rewarding to have our partner's hard work recognized."

In 2010, Stewart's French Vanilla and Dark Chocolate ice cream were both named the world's best in the same competition, according to the news outlet.

In celebration of the award, the family- and employee-owned Stewart's Shops will offer premium pints of its ice cream on sale at $2.29 each next week at all its New York and Vermont locations.
