Stewart’s Shops Celebrates Oil Independence
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Stewart's Shops Corp. is taking an additional 10 cents off per gallon on all grades of gasoline from Friday at 7 a.m. through Saturday at 7 p.m. to celebrate Oil Independence Days. The promotion is in effect at all 273 Stewart's Shops that sell fuel.
"OPEC has controlled the oil market for decades, but is losing its grip on crude oil with the increase in U.S. production due to fracking," Stewart's Shops wrote on its website. "That's what's been leading to lower prices at the pump."
Fracking is a primary process used to extract natural gas. Experts say the United States now has an approximately 100-year supply of natural gas. Liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are now offered for sale at several convenience store chains, including Kwik Trip Inc., OnCue Express and Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores.
Stewart's Shops did not say in its web post whether Oil Independence Days will be a regular occurrence, but it did say oil independence is definitely something to rejoice about.
"Come celebrate Oil Independence Days with us!" the retailer wrote. "Everything else has a day, so why can’t we have one?"
Saratoga Springs-based Stewart's Shops operates a total of 330 locations throughout upstate New York and southern Vermont.
