Stripes Brings Back Limited-Time El Grito Taco
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Stripes Convenience Stores' proprietary Laredo Taco Co. foodservice concept brought back its spicy chicken fajita taco, known as EL GRITO!, for a limited time in honor of National Taco Day on Oct. 4. To celebrate, customers have the chance to win a $500 Stripes Stores card by entering its El Grito contest from now through Oct. 16.
The fajita taco is named after the grito, a traditional shout that originated in Mexican culture on Mexican Independence Day.
To enter the contest, customers can upload their best El Grito video of themselves on the Stripes Facebook page under the Grito contest tab and here on the Stripes website. Fans can choose their favorite contestant and vote for the best Grito video on Facebook. The video with the most votes will receive the $500 gift card and free Laredo Taco Company lunch tacos for a month.
The contest winner will be announced on the Stripes Facebook page on Oct. 17.
Stripes Stores and Laredo Taco Co. have also introduced their first-ever official video app that can be found under "El Grito" in the Google Play and iOS App Store. Mobile users can download the free app and use their best lip sync video as part of the contest.
