Sunoco Committed to Price Control
Sunoco Inc. said fuel markets are "adequately supplied and there is no reason for excessive price increases." The company said it is committed to doing its part by insuring that its facilities are secure and productive so fuel supplies are available in the markets it serves.
World markets, including petroleum markets, have been affected by the uncertainty brought about by last week's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Sunoco said that it has also heard reports of gasoline price increases in different parts of the country.
The company is setting the prices that it controls in an appropriate manner to insure reliable supplies to Sunoco 4,100 branded convenience stores throughout the country. However, the company does not control all the pricing decisions at every Sunoco unit.
"No one should try to take advantage of this difficult situation and urges anyone with a concern about any Sunoco location to contact the company at 1-800-SUNOCO-1," the company said in a statement.
