Sunoco Fires Up Northerly Expansion for Laredo Taco Co.
GREENSBURG, Pa. — Sunoco LP is bringing the Laredo Taco Co. foodservice program to its first APlus convenience store in Pennsylvania, reported the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The Mt. Pleasant Street store recently began offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and will hold a grand opening for the new menu on Feb. 12.
"The Mexican cuisine is a big hit," said Christie Bloom, store manager. "We are getting a lot of compliments."
The new addition is part of Sunoco's plan to expand Laredo Taco northward. The foodservice concept originated at Texas-based Stripes c-stores, which Sunoco purchased in July 2015.
Sunoco plans to add Laredo Taco to another store in Sunbury, Pa., and to five stores in the Philadelphia region. It is also looking to add Laredo Taco to stores in Virginia and Nashville, Tenn., along with new properties it acquires in the future, according to company spokesman Jeff Shields.
"Sunoco is looking to invest a lot of money" into the foodservice program, Shields said.
In November, Sunoco listed Laredo Taco as a strength of the Stripes brand, as CSNews Online previously reported. Its fresh, handmade tacos draw in hungry customers and drive sales of other high-margin items such as beverages.
Sunoco LP has 158 Sunoco- and APlus-branded c-stores in Pennsylvania.
