Sunoco & VeriFone Honored for Retail Technology Innovation

LAS VEGAS — Sunoco Inc. and solution partner VeriFone Inc. were honored as one of three finalists for the International Retail User Group's (IRUG) 2015 Retail Innovation Award.

The award recognizes a retail member and their provider for a solution that demonstrates a sustainable competitive advantage through the application of a unique business model, technology or software.

Sunoco and VeriFone were named as a joint finalist for their EMV-ready (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) and payment card industry-compliant payment solution that engages consumers with integrated video screens and multimedia content intended to enhance the fueling experience, improve customer loyalty and increase sales.

Judging criteria was based on creativity and uniqueness with the ability to enhance the consumer experience, reducing the cost of doing business, speeding up the business processes and achieving a competitive advantage.

After careful consideration, IRUG's 2015 Retail Innovation Award went to department store retailer Stage Stores and its solution partner Ingenico, which jointly devised a multi-layered strategy to upgrade and fortify Stage Stores' touchpoints to improve customer service.

“Enhancing our infrastructure is a very important part of our strategic plan,” said Steven Hunter, chief information officer for Stage Stores.

Also named a finalist for the IRUG 2015 Retail Innovation Award was Mexican retailer Liverpool and its solution partners CDA and RHISCOM's.

The IRUG awards were presented during the user group's 38th annual conference, which took place April 12-15 in Las Vegas.
