Swiss Farms 'Hires' Cruiser the Rooster
BROOMALL, Pa. — Swiss Farms is bringing its newest employee home to roost.
Cruiser the rooster will serve as brand and community ambassador for Swiss Farms, with tasks ranging from handshaking and school visits to assisting with chef demos, media interviews and photo opportunities.
"We are so excited to welcome Cruiser into our family," said Scott Simon, CEO of Swiss Farms. "The search was quite extensive, but we strongly feel his unbridled enthusiasm, experience and love for our brand all make him an 'egg-cellent' candidate for the position."
Naming rights to Cruiser go to Maggie Simmonds, a Swiss Farms fan and contest winner. Simmonds came up with Cruiser's name by paying homage to the uniqueness of the brand — as in one can obtain anything by just "cruising" by in their car — and its close-sounding moniker to the word "rooster," the company stated.
Cruiser's name beat out a number of potential candidates, including Swisster, Mr. T Cooler, Rocky the Rooster and Delco.
On his resume, Cruiser previously served as chief community officer of the Early Risers Association, and began his career at Pierre's Costumes in Old City, Philadelphia. Swiss Farms was a natural transition and opportunity for Cruiser to leverage his leadership and engagement skills, according to the company.
Cruiser currently resides in Broomall.
Swiss Farms, based in Broomall, operates 13 drive-thru market locations in Pennsylvania.
