Tesoro Ushers Retalix Systems

SAN ANTONIO -- Tesoro Petroleum Corp., which earlier this month entered into a deal to acquire 70 convenience stores and a California refinery from Valero Energy Corp. for more than $1 billion, is upgrading its in-store technology as well.

The San Antonio-based petroleum marketer and operator of some 250 c-stores recently completed rollout of Retalix's StorePoint point-of-sale and back office software, climaxing an agreement signed by the two organizations in December 2000.

The software tools are being employed at 120 locations in Hawaii, Alaska, Utah and the West Coast in an eight-week time frame. Further, Tesoro plans to install Retalix's HOST management system that tracks numerous operational processes including pricebook management, item level inventory, time and attendance, credit authorization, pay-at-pump and fuel management.
