Texas C-store Owner on a Mission to Help Community
LAKE FORK, Texas — Frank Hemani, owner of the Star Mart convenience store and gas station in Lake Fork, is on a mission to help feed his east Texas community.
According to a KLTV report, he began offering water and a sandwich to those in need for free approximately two months ago.
A sign in the c-store reads: "If you don't have money or a job, you can have a sandwich and bottle of water for free."
"If they are hungry enough, I will feed them. If they have children, or a child, I'll definitely give them something to eat," Hemani commented.
It might not be much, but it is the least anyone could do to help, according to Hemani. He offers ham-and-cheese sandwiches and occasionally breakfast tacos.
"It's just a couple of bucks, but somebody will not go to sleep hungry," Hemani said. "If you don't have money or a job, you can have a sandwich and a bottle of water for free."
The c-store operator began offering the free food and water after seeing a video in which a similar act of kindness was performed.
"It's really nice to help the community out because, there's sometimes that maybe I went hungry," Hemani commented. "I don't think the kids in this country or anywhere else in the world has to wait for Christmas to get good stuff and I think they should get it whenever they deserve."
Currently, the store gives away five or six sandwiches each week. Hemani hopes the giveaways will inspire others.
"I can do more positive stories out there. Because of me, if more and more people start doing it, I think it'll be one good thing for the whole world," Hemani concluded.
Hemani added that he's planning to continue his gesture of kindness at his other stores.
