Thorntons Ambassadors to Educate on Unleaded15 Fuel
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thorntons Inc. will educate consumers about the benefits of E15 in three separate events in the Chicago area.
Thorntons — which markets its E15 fuel as Unleaded15 at the pump — will have ambassadors on site Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m.-10 a.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT) and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. CDT to answer questions about the renewable fuel. The ambassadors will be at the Thorntons 9138 Cicero Ave., Oak Lawn, Ill., convenience store the week of July 18; the 601 Route 83, Bensenville, Ill., location the week of July 25; and 2609 Farnsworth Ave., Aurora, Ill., the week of Aug. 1.
The renewable fuel, approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for cars manufactured in the year 2001 or newer, carries an octane rating of 88 and is touted to provide lower cost, improved engine performance and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. It typically contains 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.
In conjunction with these events, Thorntons will also offer special pricing on Unleaded15 for a limited time to its customers. Dates and times for these pricing specials will be announced in the near future.
Louisville-based Thorntons operates 181 convenience stores in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida.
