Thorntons Introduces State Fair-Inspired Treat

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Inspired by the unique food available at state fairs, Thorntons Inc. added a new limited-time treat to its bakery lineup. The Cotton Candy Donut is available now through the end of August at Thorntons convenience stores in Louisville, southern Indiana and Lexington, Ky.

The Cotton Candy Donut was created by the pastry masters at Thorntons' local bakery, who were inspired by memories of exploring the state fair with puffy, fluffy, pastel-colored clouds of dessert on a stick in their hands, the company said.

The glazed yeast doughnut is dunked in cotton candy-flavored pink icing, covered with rainbow sprinkles and topped off with a dollop of blue cotton candy-flavored whipped cream.

The limited-edition treat is meant to be a fun twist on the Kentucky State Fair and, like the annual end-of-summer event, will only be available for a short time.

Louisville, Ky.-based Thorntons operates 182 c-stores in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida.
