Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Oil & Gas Revealed
HOUSTON -- Women executives are not only growing in number in non-traditional female industries, they are making an impact as well.
In recognition of the roles females play in the oil and gas industry, the National Diversity Council (NDC) released the 2014 Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Oil and Gas, a list of the female executives, influencers and achievers impacting the oil and gas industry.
Making an appearance on the list is Kim Bowers, CEO of CST Brands Inc., the San Antonio-based parent company of Corner Store. Joining her are other notable women such as Kelli Hammock, senior vice president of administration at Murphy Oil Corp. and Donna Titzman, senior vice president and treasurer at Valero LP.
"The 2014 Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Oil and Gas features the highest caliber of executive leadership within this industry," said Dennis Kennedy, founder and CEO of the National Diversity Council. "The NDC is honored to feature such a powerful group of inspirational women reaching new heights of achievement in business."
Also recognized for their roles in the oil and gas industry are Cathy Tompkins, senior vice president, IT and chief information officer at Chesapeake Energy Corp.; Maria F. Lindenberg, chief procurement officer at Chevron Corp.; Sylvia Kerrigan, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary at Marathon Oil; Janet Langford Kelly, senior vice president, general counsel at ConocoPhillips; Zhanna Golodryga, senior vice president, services and chief information officer at Hess Corp.; Stacy Fox, senior vice president, general counsel at Sunoco Inc.; Colleen Cervantes, president at Chevron Lubricants; and Beth Bowman, senior vice president of Western Region at Shell Energy, Shell Oil.
Women holding positions on the boards of several convenience channel-related companies also appear on the list, including Ursula Burns, board of directors at Exxon Mobil Corp.; Susan Tomasky, board of directors at Tesoro; and Lynn L. Elsenhans, board of directors at Baker Hughes. Elsenhans previously served as CEO and president of Sunoco.
The NDC selects the women executives based on the following criteria:
- Top leader in her organization and profession
- Directly contributes to business growth or strategic direction of the organization
- Maintains a record of accomplishments in areas of expertise
- Effective role model who inspires other women and is active in mentoring the next generation of women in the industry
- Operates with the highest integrity and ethical behavior
- Demonstrates a commitment to corporate citizenship
