Tri-Mart Acquired by TMC Holdings

HARTFORD, Wis. -- TMC Holdings on Tuesday announced its acquisition of Tri-Mart Corp. The transaction closed July 25.

Menomonie, Wis.-based Tri-Mart is a wholesale distributor for convenience stores, grocery stores and more. It serves a territory with an approximate 150-mile radius in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan. 

TMC Holdings is an acquisition entity formed by an investment group to acquire wholesale distributors in the convenience store industry.

According to a news release, Hartford-based TMC believes there is an opportunity to consolidate several distributors in the Midwest into a platform that will compete effectively with national distributors.

TMC already owns a c-store distributor with a strong presence servicing the Indian Nation casinos in Wisconsin, and believes Tri-Mart will complement that business well. The combined companies will generate more than $100 million in annual sales and have the ability to provide a broad selection of products, as well as offer merchandising and customer technology services to a large customer base.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
