TWIC TALK: It's About People, Not Politics
Five years after the murder of George Floyd and the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, several companies have walked back or abandoned their commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
The top reasons, according to a recent survey, are political pressure (54%), public scrutiny (42%), budget constraints (31%), leadership turnover (29%) and perceptions that the programs have limited measurable impact (29%).
What is perhaps most misunderstood about DEI, however, is that it is about people, not politics. At its core, the goal is to foster an inclusive work culture that celebrates differences, allows team members to bring their whole selves to work, and enables companies to benefit from diversity of thought and background. When a business' employees are supported, engaged and given the opportunity to thrive, the company thrives as well.
In this one-hour webcast, we will discuss such topics as:
- Putting people first
- Establishing and maintaining a strong company culture
- Ensuring the culture reaches both the corporate & store levels
- Supporting your people in meaningful ways
- Fostering a respectful and welcoming workplace for all
