Ultramar Tests Public Mobile in Canada
TORONTO, Ontario – Five Ultramar Ltee/ Depanneur du Coin locations will add a Public Mobile wireless phone store inside their location, allowing customers to buy a phone and a plan, the company stated.
"Never have Canadians had so many choices in choosing a cell phone company. Distribution is key and we feel that working with these companies provides us with consistency and a chance to know that our services are being offered in the same places where our customers live, work and play," said Alek Krstajic, CEO of Public Mobile, in a statement.
This expands other tests, such as one signed with 60 Gateway Newstands in Toronto and Montreal, as well as one with Eyeshot Media for four convenience store locations. The mobile vendor also has a trial with Money Mart Canada, and are one of the nine vendors being utilized for Loblaws' new venture called "The Mobile Shop."
The Ultramar stores will have a Public Mobile store, not just a self-serve grab-and-go display like the Gateway locations.
