U.S. Oil Adds to Gain Clean Fuel Network
AKRON, Ohio -- U.S. Oil acquired a public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station here from J. Rayl Transport. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to a report by the Akron Beacon Journal, U.S. Oil will aggressively market CNG to fleets and other trucking companies. In addition, the CNG pumps will go from being unbranded to carrying U.S. Oil's Gain Clean Fuel logo.
J Rayl, which operates 76 trucks powered by natural gas, will continue to have a ready source of inexpensive CNG. In addition, the transport company will share in the profitability of the station, the news source reported.
The CNG fueling station, located at 1201 S. Arlington St., is the first such location in Akron. Appleton. Wis.-based U.S. Oil plans to build a national network of CNG stations available for public use.
"We're covering the whole country. We have plans to build 100 [CNG] sites in three years," Bill Renz, general manager of Gain Clean Fuel, told the Beacon Journal.
Gain already has approximately 40 CNG stations already opened or currently in the works, the news outlet added.
Ohio has fewer than 20 public CNG stations operated by several different companies, according to U.S. Department of Energy statistics.
