Valero Goes To The Promised Land
Promised Land Dairy of San Antonio is introducing a new 14-ounce single-serving size package that will be sold at Valero Energy Corp. convenience stores and Whole Foods Market Inc. grocery stores.
"We're meeting the public's increased demand for all natural, healthy, nutritious foods and beverages in convenient on-the-go packaging," said Harry Lees, president of Promise Land Dairy, which produces whole milk, 2 percent reduced-fat milk and fat-free milk.
The company also sells Midnight Chocolate Milk, Reduced Fat Midnight Chocolate Milk, Very Berry Strawberry Milk, Vivacious Vanilla Milk, and during the Christmas holidays, offer a seasonal Old Fashioned Egg Nog and Reduced Fat Old Fashioned Egg Nog.
Promised Land Dairy produces milk products from Jersey cows at its plant in Floresville. Company officials say milk from Jersey cows is naturally higher in calcium, protein and nonfat milk solids than milk from the more commonly used Holstein cows.
A new label touts the company's all-natural qualities by prominently featuring its promises for No Artificial Hormones, More Calcium, More Protein and More Taste.
The new label reflects a growing interest among consumers for healthier products. "As people become more aware of the need for better nutrition and are seeking out all-natural products, we wanted to become more assertive about getting our message out," Lees said.
