Valero Teams With Local College Football Squad

SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Retail Holdings Inc. is continuing its tradition of teaming up with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), becoming the convenience store of choice for the school's inaugural football season.

As part of the partnership, Valero Corner Store employees will be at all Roadrunners' home games passing out free samples of Fresh Choices, the company's signature brand, and cheering for the team. The retail arm of Valero will also be providing financial support.

"Valero is proud to show support for UTSA and its new football team," said Hal Adams, Valero's vice president-retail merchandising. "Valero Corner Stores are doing our part by signing up to sponsor the team."

Fans attending each UTSA football home game can also expect surprises. "Make sure you are present for the game on Sept. 10," Adams added. "Fans will get a special gift as they leave the game, which will benefit them for all the 2011 inaugural UTSA football season."

This is just the latest example of Valero and UTSA joining sides. The two are neighbors along Valero Way and share jogging paths. UTSA students participate with Valero employees in several of the company's volunteer events throughout the San Antonio area. In addition, Valero plans to open its flagship Corner Store on UTSA Boulevard in 2012.
