VERC Enterprises Named Top Place to Work

DUXBURY, Mass. -- Convenience store operator VERC Enterprises earned a spot on this year's Boston Globe Top Places to Work lineup. The retailer ranked No. 12 out of the 40 medium companies -- those with 100 to 249 employees in Massachusetts -- on the 2012 list.

The Top Places to Work survey honors employers who care for their most valuable resource: their people. The companies on the list pay well; offer progressive benefits and creative perks; allow the flexibility needed to have good lives both at work and at home; embrace the diverse backgrounds of their employees; and offer a promising future to all of their workers.

To compile this year's listing, the Globe invited 1,586 Massachusetts employers to participate. Of those, 304 organizations went all the way through the process, allowing the news outlet to conduct a confidential survey of their workers. More than 81,907 surveys were completed, and employers were also invited to complete a 10-question survey on workplace practices.

VERC Enterprises, which employs 195 workers in Massachusetts, is no stranger to the Globe's Top Places to Work list. The company earned a spot on last year's lineup as well.
