VERC Scores Four-Peat as a Top Place to Work
DUXBURY, Mass. — VERC Enterprises has been named to the Boston Globe Top Places to Work list for the fourth time. The convenience store chain, Mobil/Gulf gasoline retailer and car wash operator is one of 125 companies in Massachusetts that offer the most rewarding work experiences based on a survey taken by employees.
The survey measures employee opinions about their company's direction, execution, connection, management, work, salary, benefits and engagement.
"We're honored to be a recipient of this prestigious recognition — one we have received four times — from the Boston Globe and proud that we have created the type of working environment that is worthy of our being named a best place to work," said Barry Ahern, director of operations and human resources for VERC.
Ahern accepted the award on behalf of the company at a Nov. 17 ceremony held at Aloft Boston Seaport. VERC and the other 2016 winners appeared in a special Top Places to Work magazine published in the Nov. 20 edition of the Boston Globe.
"In today's tight market, competition for the best workers is intense," said Larry Edelman, business editor for the Globe. "Our winning companies know that creating a motivating and supportive environment is key to finding and keeping talent."
Duxbury, Mass.-based VERC operates c-stores and gas stations throughout eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
