VIDEO: Burritos 24 Hours a Day, Seven Days a Week

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — In a new installment of his video series with Convenience Store News parent company, Stagnito Business Information + Edgell Communications, Phil Lempert introduces viewers to Burritobox, a new vending machine that sells hot, cheap, tortilla-wrapped meats and cheeses.

The first-ever Burritobox is located in West Hollywood, in a gas station. The state-of-the-art machine has a live video chat feature so a customer can reach the company immediately if there is a problem.

Burritobox is restocked every one or two days so that everything is fresh. The machine doesn’t actually make the burrito — it just heats it up. The creators promise the same quality of product that one would get at a fast-casual restaurant, but available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The menu includes chipotle chicken and black bean, and grilled steak and cheese, as well as a couple of breakfast burritos. The operator uses basmati rice and fresh cilantro, and marinates the meats for 24 hours before cooking them on grills. Sides include guacamole, salsa and sour cream.

The concept is currently being franchised in 15 cities.

As CSNews Online previously reported, Lempert and Stagnito + Edgell forged an exclusive strategic alliance that allows Lempert to provide content and programming to multiple CPG retail media brands within the Stagnito + Edgell portfolio, including Convenience Store News and Progressive Grocer

Lempert is founder of The Lempert Report, a food trends publication, and SupermarketGuru.com, a leading online resource for food safety, products, trends and shopping tips that attracts more than nine million visitors annually.
