WAFC Elects New Directors

The Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) has elected four new directors to its board:

Rocky Campbell, VP of operations, C&K Markets, Inc., Brookings, Ore. (upper right photo): Campbell oversees all store operations and loss prevention activities for C&K Market. He began his career with C&K at its Central Point, Ore., Ray’s Food Place in 1981. C&K is a family-owned company that operates more than 40 grocery stores under the banners of Ray’s Food Place, Shop Smart and C&K Market in Oregon and Northern California.

Scott Drew, SVP, store operations, Smart and Final, Commerce, Calif. (lower right): Drew is a seasoned executive with more than 35 years of retail management experience. He began his career in 1977 as a courtesy clerk and has progressed through the ranks to his current role with Smart and Final, which operates 190 warehouse-style food and supplier stores in California and Arizona.

Pat Posey, VP of sales and advertising, Bristol Farms, Carson, Calif. (lower left): Posey joined Bristol Farms in 1997 after spending 13 years with Ralphs where he began his career as a courtesy clerk. He is an alumnus of the Food Industry Management Program class of 1996 at the USC Marshall School of Business. Bristol Farms operates 15 stores in California under the banners of Bristol Farms and Lazy Acres.

Steve Vallance, VP of purchasing and pricing, Cardenas Markets, Ontario, Calif.: Vallance began his career as a courtesy clerk with Vons in 1964. In addition to Vons -- where he retired after 30 years with the company -- he has held positions with Catalina Marketing, Kmart, Unified Grocers and various independent retailers. He began his current assignment with Cardenas Markets in September of 2013. Cardenas operates 29 stores: 26 in the Inland Empire of California and three stores in Las Vegas.

WAFC is a nonprofit organization comprised of senior executives from major food retail and wholesale companies in 14 western states, whose primary mission is to provide advanced education for food industry employees.
