Walmart's Great Gas Rollback Is Back

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. announced the return of its “Great Gas Rollback” program, which enables consumers to save on fuel purchases at Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations.

Under the discount program, which kicked off today and runs through July 7, Walmart customers using a Walmart gift card will get a 10-cent-per-gallon discount, while those using a Walmart MoneyCard or Walmart Credit Card will save 15 cents per gallon.

The program covers more than 1,000 Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. The Great Gas Rollback differs slightly in Alabama and Florida because of state regulations.

“As I travel to stores across the country, I am constantly hearing that gas prices are making it tough for our customers to balance their budgets,” said Gisel Ruiz, chief operating officer for Walmart U.S., a division of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. “For every cent gas prices climb, consumers have $1 billion less to spend."

Over the past two years, the Great Gas Rollback has saved customers more than $100 million.

"This year, we’re bringing it back to help families as they hit the road to visit relatives, go on vacation, celebrate the summer holidays and [for] every shopping trip in between,” Ruiz added.

Walmart operates 10,700 stores under 69 banners in 27 countries.
