Wawa to Take Coca-Cola Freestyle Chainwide

WAWA, Pa. — Wawa Inc. will become the first national retailer in the convenience channel to offer Coca-Cola Freestyle chainwide by May 2015.

The touchscreen soda fountain features more than 100 different Coca-Cola beverages and custom flavors, and is part of an overall enhancement to Wawa stores and an addition to their self-serve beverage areas.

"Part of our commitment to fulfilling customers' lives every day includes creating new and compelling fresh food and beverages that are convenient and always delivered with consistent quality and care," said Mike Sherlock, vice president of fresh food and beverage for Wawa. "Coca-Cola Freestyle supports this goal, adding something unique to our beverage offer and delivers great quality and variety through proprietary micro-dose mixing technology."

Coca-Cola Freestyle blends specific recipes of concentrated ingredients with water and sweetener where the beverage is dispensed, delivering quality and beverage variety through proprietary micro-dose mixing technology, according to the announcement.

The units offer more than 100 different combinations, such as sparkling beverages, flavored waters, sports drinks, lemonades and teas. This includes 70-plus low/no-calorie brands, 90-plus caffeine-free brands, 50-plus still brands and 80-plus brands exclusive to Coca-Cola Freestyle.

Customers can create and save their favorite mixes or share them with a friend through a new Coca-Cola Freestyle app.

From now through the end of the year, all new and remodeled Wawa stores will include the enhanced new self-service cold beverage areas and Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. In 2015, all stores will receive enhancements to the beverage area and the new Freestyle technology through a renovation and mini-remodel program.

Wawa owns and operates more than 670 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and central Florida.
