WhyRunOut Targets Webvan Customers
WhyRunOut yesterday launched a promotion in California aimed at attracting customers of the now defunct Webvan grocery delivery service. As part of the promotion, customers placing a $75 minimum order at www.whyrunout.com will receive free delivery through July 31.
Operating since 1998 in Southern California, WhyRunOut delivers directly to consumers from convenience stores, supermarkets and drug stores, not warehouses. Through its home grocery delivery partnership with Stater Bros. Markets, a California supermarket chain, WhyRunOut offers:
* Nearly double the grocery inventory that Webvan offered;
* Approximately 15 percent lower prices for groceries than Webvan offered; and
* Same day delivery, on a first-come-first-served basis, rather than always next day.
WhyRunOut, which acquired the operations of Pink Dot delivery service in Los Angeles last year, normally charges $6.99 per delivery.
