7-Eleven Distributes Ribbons for America
7-Eleven Inc. said yesterday its customers across the United States can pledge their support for the victims of the recent attack on America at participating 7-Eleven stores. In addition, red, white and blue "Ribbons for America," a symbol of the unified American spirit, will be available free of charge to customers, while supplies last.
The company, which operates a branded network of more than 5,200 nationwide, is teaming with the American Red Cross in a fundraising campaign to benefit its National Disaster Relief Fund.
"As a company and as Americans, we are deeply saddened by this tragedy," said Jim Keyes, president and CEO of 7-Eleven, Inc. "During this difficult time, we want to offer our stores as a public service to those who wish to contribute to the relief efforts. Our employees and franchisees are uniting together -- and with the American Red Cross -- to support the aid of victims and their loved ones affected by this horror."
7-Eleven stores are accepting monetary donations for the American Red Cross immediately and will continue the fundraising campaign through the end of the year. Limited supplies of the "Ribbons for America," assembled by employees in 7-Eleven's Dallas corporate headquarters, will be given away at participating 7-Eleven stores. In addition, 7-Eleven is using its stores to help promote the need for blood donations by posting a phone number for people to learn where they can donate locally.
"In times like these, 7-Eleven stores nationwide really exemplify community spirit," Keyes said. "Our customers want to know how they can help and we want to be a vehicle for them to do so."
