7-Eleven Sells One Millionth Sprinklicious Doughnut

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven's Kwik-E-Mart promotion sold its one millionth Sprinklicious doughnut promotion on Wednesday, the company stated. The bright pink "Simpsons Movie" doughnuts available exclusively at 7-Eleven stores were flying out of the store -- two Kwik-E-Mart locations in Burbank, Calif., and Los Angeles were placing orders for 4,000 of the doughnuts a day.

"Not surprisingly, the converted Kwik-E-Mart stores had the most dramatic sales increases," Dennis Phelps, vice president of fresh foods at 7-Eleven, said in a written statement. "Doughnut sales at the Burbank Kwik-E-Mart, the store closest to the Fox Studios, were 1,000 times what they are in a typical day."

The highest single-day sales of the Sprinklicious doughnut for any one store was for more than 4,200, he added. In addition, all U.S. stores are seeing dramatic double-digit bakery sales increases. Customers were purchasing the pnk doughnuts by the dozen, the company stated.

He continued: "This is certainly a testament to the quality of our fresh bakery items and our store personnel working with our bakery partners to satisfy the customer."

In other Kwik-E-Mart news, the deadline for 7-Eleven's Get Animated promotion is approaching. The grand-prize winner of the contest will have his or her likeness animated for an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons" TV show. In addition, more than 711 prizes are being awarded through Tuesday, while the grand-prize winner will be announced in August, the company stated.

To play, customers receive coded game pieces with the purchase of select 7-Eleven sandwiches, grill items and Squishee-themed Slurpee drinks, which can be entered at www.7-11Simpsons.com. Prizes include Simpsons' merchandise, such as Kwik-E-Mart T-shirts and complete DVD sets of The Simpsons' TV show. Entrants who enter 10 codes will be eligible to receive a limited-edition "The Simpsons Movie" poster.
