Andeavor Begins Operations in Mexico With First ARCO Station

SAN ANTONIO — Andeavor, previously Tesoro Corp., has officially begun operations in Mexico with the opening of the first ARCO gas station in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

The company has an established wholesale marketing agreement with Profesional Fuels Solutions, S.A. de C.V. (ProFuels) and plans to expand the ARCO brand to achieve a leading market position in the Mexican states of Sonora and Baja California, as CSNews Online reported.

"We are excited to have officially introduced the ARCO brand in Mexico," said Greg Goff, chairman, president and CEO of Andeavor. "Opening our first ARCO station in Northwest Mexico is a natural and strategic link for our West Coast operations and integrated value chain, furthering our marketing integration in a growing market."

The company cited multiple factors that position it for growth in Mexico, including access to terminaling and transportation services; existing West Coast footprint and integration opportunities; strength and recognition of the ARCO brand in Mexico; and agreement with Profuels, the leading operator, wholesaler and distributor in country.

The new station marks the beginning of growth that includes an anticipated 200 to 400 ARCO stations in Sonora and Baja California over the next few years. ProFuels also intends to grow the brand through supply contracts with independent owners and operators of existing and new gas stations that are interested in marketing fuel under the ARCO brand. All ARCO stations in Mexico will offer the brand's Top Tier gasoline.

"We're incredibly excited to open the first ARCO station in Mexico," said Luis Enrique Rodriguez, president of ProFuels. "Mexican consumers are interested in having high-quality fueling options and we believe that ARCO is the brand best suited to deliver on that consumer value proposition. The ARCO brand is known for its high-quality Top Tier gasoline offering, which aligns perfectly with our operation and service culture that provides consumers with a superior filling experience."

A grand opening celebration will be held to commemorate the station's opening in the coming weeks. Additionally, an ARCO advertising campaign will introduce the ARCO brand and its Top Tier product offerings to consumers. The multimedia campaign will include outdoor billboard placements, print ads and TV and radio sponsorships.

San Antonio-based Andeavor is an independent refiner and marketer of petroleum products. Andeavor, through its subsidiaries, operates seven refineries in the western United States and has ownership in a logistics business. Its retail-marketing system includes more than 2,500 retail stations under the ARCO, Shell, Exxon, Mobil, USA Gasoline, Rebel, and Tesoro brands.
