C-Store Wedding Bells
PHOENIX, Ariz.
Shantay Gattis and Jason Corona were married Feb. 17. But instead of stopping by the local park for wedding pictures, the happy couple dropped by the convenience store where they first met - and were showered with gifts, c-store style.
Toasters? Crystal? Silverware? Not exactly. A year's supply of Dr Pepper, a candy bouquet and a cake made of c-store staples Twinkies and Sno Balls is more like it.
According to officials of Phillips Petroleum Co., which owns the Circle K convenience store chain, Gattis and Corona met at a Phoenix Circle K two years ago. The groom later "popped the question" by putting his proposal under the cap of a Dr Pepper he purchased at Circle K.
For their wedding, the couple chartered a bus and took the wedding party of 50 to some of their favorite spots, including the store where they met. While there, the couple raised their glasses for a Dr Pepper toast.
