CHS Foundation Opens Scholarship Applications

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The CHS Foundation, the philanthropic arms of CHS Inc., an energy, grains and foods firm that operates and supplies Cenex-branded convenience stores, opened the application period for high school and two-year college students to submit requests for $1,000 scholarships.

The CHS Foundation will award 25 $1,000 high school scholarships to students planning to study an agricultural field at a two or four-year college, and give away 50 $1,000 two-year college scholarships to first-year agricultural students attending a two-year college.

"As the agricultural industry continues to grow, it's vitally important that we continue to build the next generation of leaders in production, science, technology and business agriculture," William Nelson, president of the CHS Foundation, said in a statement. "We're proud to offer these scholarships which help plant seeds for a strong future in agriculture."

The deadline for applications is April 1, 2009. An
independent, external committee will select scholarship recipients based on essays, transcripts and reference letters.
