CITGO, Quality State Oil Team for Family, Baseball and Fun
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- CITGO Petroleum Corp. and Quality State Oil are joining with the Sheboygan A's to kick off the team's 50th summer season this weekend.
The festivities will begin at Wildwood Park at noon on May 26 prior to the opening game against the Manistee Saints. The family-oriented pre-game events will include free baseball tickets for children, live music, raffles for CITGO gift cards and a new book giveaway by the Mead Public Library.
"As a community-based organization, the impact of the Sheboygan A's stretches far beyond baseball," said Scott Stangel, president of the Sheboygan Athletic Club and wholesale marketing manager for Quality State Oil. "And we are so pleased that CITGO, Quality State and the Mead Public Library could help us celebrate the Sheboygan A's 50th year. Our organization is constantly working to give back to the community by giving kids an opportunity to grow, whether that is through sports or through reading programs or other activities."
The celebration will include a performance by the Buffalo Joe Band and a traditional Wisconsin brat fry. The Mead Public Library will also conduct registration for library cards and its summer library program, provide coloring stations and distribute up to 500 free books to children, 400 of which were donated by Bess the Book Bus. With each book donated, the Sheboygan A's will also give away a free baseball ticket, redeemable at any game throughout the season.
Local CITGO marketers and retailers in Wisconsin like Quality State own and operate more than 300 CITGO locations.
