Fresh & Easy Executive to Present at Nielsen 360 Conference

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. -- Among many retail industry leaders, Simon Uwins, chief marketing officer for Tesco's Fresh & Easy, will engage attendees to The Nielsen Co.'s Consumer 360 Conference.

The Nielsen Co., parent to Convenience Store News, unveiled this year's theme of "Make It Matter," featuring an array of industry leading keynote speakers offering insights to consumer package foods (CPG) companies. The event will take place June 3–5, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix.

Uwins will deliver a presentation entitled "The Story of Fresh & Easy," and explain how Tesco built upon its successful European retail business model eventually bringing its philosophy abroad to a welcoming audience.

As a result, Tesco created a new state-side arm of its company complete with a new culture and product marketing initiatives. Attendees will be privy to learn the ways in which Tesco used research to determine how it would create and execute value for it U.S. customer base -- a process that has been successful at locations around the globe.

Among featured keynote speakers are:
-- Lisa Klauser, vice president of consumer and customer Solutions; Unilever North America, who will present "Shopper Showdown: How to Thrive in the New Economy;"
-- John McDonnell, chief operating officer for The Patron Spirits Co., who will present "The Power of Premium Brand Building;" and
-- Greg Wasson, president and chief operating officer for Walgreens, who will present "FedEx Fast and Disney Friendly: Connecting with Customers Across 10,000 Points of Care."

David L. Calhoun, chairman and CEO of The Nielsen Co., and John Lewis, president and CEO, ACNielsen North America, will provide opening remarks.

"Our clients need immediate solutions on how to survive during these tight economic times," Lewis said in a released statement. "A complete understanding of their consumers along with the right targeting and segmenting approach and innovative strategies will enable CPG companies to excel. That's what this conference is all about -- providing our clients with insights and solutions to make it matter."
