Parker's Market Urban Gourmet Wins TripAdvisor Award
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- More tourists to the local area may soon be entering "Parker's Market Urban Gourmet" into their navigation systems. The store, located at 222 Drayton St. in downtown Savannah, was named a 2014 Winner of the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor.
This marks the second consecutive year Parker's has received TripAdvisor's prestigious recognition for its flagship convenience store, which first opened in February 1999 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Highlights include a full breakfast bar, as well as southern fried chicken, old-fashioned macaroni n' cheese, she-crab stew, sandwich wraps, crab cakes and other tasty favorites.
The Certificate of Excellence awards, now in their fourth year, celebrate hospitality and are given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, according to the travel website. Winners include eateries, attractions and accommodations of all sizes and are located around the world, with only the top 10 percent receiving the honor.
To determine the winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm that takes into account review ratings. Volume and recency of customer reviews, as well as a business' tenure and popularity ranking are taken into account, and businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five.
"We are proud that our Parker’s Market Urban Gourmet store has earned the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence again this year," said Greg Parker, president and CEO of Parker's. “We work daily to innovate, redesign and enhance our gourmet foods, products selection and the overall customer experience at this unique store in our group."
Headquartered in Savannah, The Parker Cos. currently has 34 convenience stores in Georgia and South Carolina. Two additional stores are scheduled to open in June.
