QuikTrip Closes Store in Kansas City's Sprint Center

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- QuikTrip Corp. is pulling out of the Sprint Center here, reported the Kansas City Star.

The convenience store chain's location in the arena, which opened in 2007, offered fresh sandwiches, salads and wraps from QT Kitchens. The menu items were priced similarly to those in regular QuikTrip stores.

The arena location was always intended to be a marketing tool rather than a profit center, according to the report.

"It was profitable in regards to what we were trying to accomplish. But we never intended it to be like a normal QuikTrip," stated company spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.

No closing date for the location was given, but Thornbrugh stated that it will be soon.
