Royal Buying Group Expands Independent Retailer Expo
LISLE, Ill. -- Royal Buying Group is adding another day to its annual independent retailer event in April. With the change, its C-Store Training Services division will hold two training workshops on April 11 with the traditional Independent C-Store Expo (I-C Expo) following on April 12.
Royal Buying Group expects this year's event to be its biggest I-C-Expo with the expansion of booths and space up to 50 percent larger than previous shows. This year's event will take place at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook Hotel in Oak Brook, Ill.
The first day will feature two new training workshops presented by Royal Buying Group's training division, C-Store Training Services. The workshops will be presented by Mark Wells and Bonnie Wells of LJT Management. "C-Store Merchandising for Results" will take an in-depth look into all of the merchandising categories and the key to building sales in each one. "Coaching Employees to Suggestively Sell" will focus on how to instruct c-store employees to increase sales through suggestive-selling techniques.
All retailers are welcome to register to attend the workshops. They will be followed by a welcome reception that evening.
The second day of the event will begin with exhibitor registration and set up. Then, the day's events will include brunch and three free educational sessions that are open to all retailers.
The tradeshow exhibit hall will open promptly at the conclusion of the last educational session and the new exhibiting hours of the show are from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Vendor and Retailer of the Year will be awarded at 6:00 p.m., followed by the selection of the recipients of the 2012 RBG Scholarship Program. The winner of the grand-prize raffle drawing will conclude the day's announcements.
"We look forward to continuing the availability of C-Store Training Services workshops and the practical and everyday application that is offered through them," said Angela Angelilli, Royal Buying Group's vice president of member services. "We believe that the best and most efficient way to offer today's leaders of independent retailers, jobbers and c-store employees is still through first-hand training. That is why we have decided to offer two half-day workshops prior to the I-C-Expo's tradeshow."
