Smoking Issues to be Debated

NEW YORK -- The Tobacco Merchants Association (TMA), a content provider to suppliers, manufacturers and others in the global tobacco industry, will hold its 87th annual meeting May 16 at Tavern on the Green in New York City.

The event will kick off with a roundtable discussion with Wall Street tobacco analysts featuring Bonnie Herzog from Credit Suisse, David Adelman from Dean Witter Morgan Stanley, Robert Campagnino from Prudential Financial and Martin Feldman from Salomon Smith Barney.

The event will also feature the presentation of two awards: the ?Giant of the Industry? Award which will be presented to Ernest Pepples, retired senior vice president of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., and TMA?s ?Bi-Annual Award for Tobacco Economics? to Dr. William M. Snell, extension professor at the University of Kentucky?s Department of Agricultural Economics.

A May 15 briefing will include an introduction of TMA?s new Web site, TMALive.com and a prototype demonstration of TMA?s proposed B2B Tobacco Merchants eXchange (TMX).
