Uni-Marts Steps Up

Uni-Marts, Inc. is collecting funds for the American Red Cross to aid in the relief and rescue efforts in New York and Washington.

All of Uni-Marts 299 convenience stores and Choice Cigarette Discount Outlets throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia are placing canisters for customer contributions at the front counters of each store as they become available by the American Red Cross.

All of the money collected will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Donations will be accepted through the end of the year. Uni-Marts plans to match all funds collected up to $20,000.

"We, along with the nation, are deeply saddened by the tragedies of September 11, 2001, and are committed to aiding our country in any way we can," said Henry Sahakian, chairman and CEO of Uni-Marts. "We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the victims and families who were affected by these events, and support the many rescue workers in their efforts during this most difficult time in our nation's history."

Donations are also being accepted at Uni-Marts corporate office and can be mailed to:
Disaster Relief Fund, c/o Uni-Marts Inc., 477 East Beaver Ave., State College, Pa. 16801.

Checks should be made payable to the American Red Cross.
