Valero Launches Fund-Raising Drive
SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Energy Corp. has kicked off its annual Children's Miracle Network fund-raising drive at its nearly 1,200 convenience stores and gas stations.
Through October 6, customers can purchase $1 and $5 paper "Miracle Balloons" at any of Valero's Diamond Shamrock, Ultramar, Beacon, Valero and Total stores. After being purchased, the balloons will then be displayed in the stores throughout the campaign.
To encourage customers to support the fund-raiser, Valero is offering those who buy a balloon a buy-one, get-one-free coupon for either a 20 oz. bottle or a 12-pack of 7 UP, A&W Root Beer, Sunkist or RC Cola.
"We are proud to be a sponsor of Children's Miracle Network again this year," said Gary Arthur, Valero's senior vice president of retail and specialty products marketing. "By raising funds for this very worthwhile charity, we can directly help children who are suffering from illness, injury or birth defects and ensure that they have access to the most well-equipped facilities, the most advanced technology, and the best care available.
"As a company, we are dedicated to helping our communities. With the hard work of our employees and the generosity of our customers we can continue to serve the needs of the communities where we have business operations."
Funds raised during the campaign will directly benefit 34 hospitals located in the 11 states where Valero has retail operations. Last year alone, the company raised more than $711,000 for Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
