White Hen Adds to Chicago Store Count; Launches New Just Toss It! Promo
LOMBARD, Ill. – White Hen Pantry, Inc., yesterday opened its second new Chicago store this year, bringing its market total to 212. The new store, in Elk Grove Village, offers White Hen's broad selection of gourmet coffees, an ever-expanding line-up of natural and organic foods, fresh Just Toss It! green salads, its signature full-service deli, and a toasted-to-order Hot & Fresh sandwich program with a state-of-the-art touch screen ordering system. In addition, the Elk Grove Village store has an adjacent White Hen Liquor Store with separate entrance but shared checkout.
White Hen also reported it has additional stores under construction with future openings as soon as late July. Ted Beilman, Senior Vice President of Merchandising, stated, "Our new-store growth initiative is well underway and we are pleased with our progress. We expect to open at least 10 new stores in 2006, and at least 15 new stores per year in 2007 and beyond."
Separately, White Hen launched its new First Toss at Wrigley Field contest to coincide with the debut of its Just Toss It! Salad program. The contest will reward a winning White Hen salad customer with the opportunity to toss the first pitch at a Chicago Cubs baseball game at Wrigley Field later this year.
White Hen's new Just Toss It! line of green salads is unique in that it uses a unique packaging system to keep the bed of lettuce separated from the other ingredients, such as meat, cheese, croutons, etc. The packaging keeps the high moisture content ingredients separate from the bed of greens until the moment the customer is ready to toss & eat their salad. The Just Toss It! salad line includes: Asian Chicken, Chef, Cobb, Caesar and Trail Mix. The Asian Salad with mandarin oranges, chow mien noodles, sesame chicken and hot chili dressing is featured in the Chicago Tribune and in-stores now.
