DES MOINES, Iowa — Yesway will celebrate Independence Day by honoring America's first responders and active or retired members of the military with "Free Fountain on the 4th."

Customers who currently serve or have served in the past on their local police force, fire department, EMT service, first responder support teams, or any branch of the U.S. military can visit any Yesway convenience store for a free fountain drink of any size.

"We launched our 'Free Fountain on the 4th' celebration to show our appreciation for the honorable men and women who serve us so faithfully each and every day," said Brian Trout, senior vice president of operations for Yesway. "It is very important to us as an organization to recognize the many first responders and members of the military who live and work in the communities we serve and also to express our appreciation to our many loyal customers."

All customers are invited to join Yesway in supporting first responders and active or retired members of the military as it celebrates America's independence on July 4 and throughout the year, the company said.

As part of its recently launch charitable giving program, Yesway Gives Back, the retailer will donate 5 cents from the sale of every specially marked bottle of Yesway-branded water, up to $25,000, to Operation Homefront. The national nonprofit has a mission to build strong, stable and secure military families so they can thrive in the communities they worked to protect.

Des Moines-based Yesway owns and operates c-stores and truck stops in eight states, including Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska.
