ZÜM XR by Avitae is a line of lower-calorie energy drinks made with extended-release caffeine. ZÜM XR uses bead-based technology that controls the release rate of caffeine within a consumer’s body for long-term energy for up to four hours. The energy drink gives consumers an initial caffeine boost equivalent to one and a half cups of coffee (125 milligrams) before the beads slowly release an additional 125 milligrams, Avitae explained. Each beverage contains just 70 calories. Three flavors are available: Orange, Mixed Berry, and Lemon Lime. ZÜM XR has a suggested retail price of $2.99 per 12-ounce can.
